One dead after shooting at North Charleston hotel

NORTH CHARLESTON S.C. (WCBD) – Police are investigating following a shooting in North Charleston.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, May 30 authorities reported to the parking lot of the Hyatt Place Hotel at 3234 W. Montague Ave in reference to a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics transported the victim to the Medical University of South Carolina where he later died.

The victim has been identified as 35 year old Barri Shank. Shank was visiting from Bay Village, Ohio at the time of the incident.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Police are asking anyone with information on the fatal shooting to contact North Charleston Police at (843) 554-5700 or Crimestoppers at (843) 554-1111.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office says the identity of the victim will be released Tuesday following notification to the family.
