Maroon 5 announced they are cancelling their two scheduled concerts in North Carolina because of the HB2 law.

The band was scheduled to appear at Time Warner Cable Arena Charlotte on September 11 and PNC Arena in Raleigh on September 12.

Maroon 5 announced Friday morning, “this was a difficult decision for us to make as a band. We don’t want to penalize our fans in North Carolina by not performing for them, but in the end it comes down to what we feel is morally right AS WE FEEL EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY.”

Bruce Springsteen called off a concert in Greensboro in April after the controversial law passed. The North Carolina law directs transgender people to use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.

Tickets for the concerts will be refunded at point of purchase according to Live Nation. Tickets purchased online and by phone will be automatically refunded.
