Gov. Haley announces new domestic violence resource website

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – There’s a new website intended to help both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence in South Carolina get resources needed to curb the crime.

At a summit on Friday, Gov. Nikki Haley announced would help people suffering from abuse and offenders get information to help themselves.

Haley’s office says the site has a 24-hour crisis hotline and safety checklists. There’s also a directory of resources that is searchable so people can find information in specific areas of the state.

The governor also laid out goals for county-level officials to try to meet by the end of the year in order to receive Safe Place County Certifications. Those goals include organizing a committee to review domestic violence deaths and adopting human resources policies for dealing with domestic violence situations.
