ST. GEORGE, S.C. (WCBD) — News 2 confirms a St. George police officer was fired today after his arrest for second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Shaun Dumont, 34, was arrested earlier Wednesday by special agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division who are part of the Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The Attorney General’s office says Dumont solicited sexually explicit images from a minor via social media.
We spoke with Chief Brett Camp who said Dumont has been terminated from the department. Dumont, who faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted, is currently being held in the Colleton County Detention Center.
