Coroner releases identity of person killed on Interstate 26

HARLEYVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating following a deadly single vehicle accident on Interstate 26.

Troopers say on Monday, May 9 at 11:17 a.m., a driver, later identified as Charles Oliver, Jr., 60, of Greenwood, was traveling east on I-26 near the 184 MM. We’re told Oliver ran off the left side of the road and was ejected from his motorcycle. He was thrown in the air and landed in the median.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office says Oliver died from massive head trauma.
