On Sunday May 1st, deputies were called to a residential neighborhood in Simpsonville after witnesses reported a man assaulting a juvenile with a football.
They say 39-year-old Shannon Dale Sutherland was identified as the man.
Sutherland later turned himself in to deputies at the Law Enforcement Center and was released on an $1800 bond earlier Monday.
He is charged with Assault and Battery 3rd Degree.
Neighbors told 7 News the incident happened after the 14-year-old boy in the video accidentally hit Sutherland’s eight-year-old daughter with the football while playing with other kids in a cul-de-sac.
Sutherland claims his daughter has been picked on before, and it upset him. He admits he didn’t handle the situation correctly and should have contacted the boy’s parents.
