Mt. Pleasant, SC (WCBD) – The Charleston County School board will continue to consider whether or not to close Lincoln Middle-High School.
The board met Monday, but decided to wait until Monday May 9th to announce a decision about the future of the high school.
According to Emma Harrell, Vice-Chair of the District 1 Constituent Board, a meeting was held last week at the school where Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait said she would recommend the school be closed.
CCSD has been looking for ways to slash costs in the wake of an $18 million budget deficit.
If the board does decide to close the school, it would remain open until the end of next school year.
Students who attend the school would be transferred to Wando High School.
