Fight over Confederate flag in downtown Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — A local singer involved in a scuffle over the confederate flag says he has no regrets about speaking out over an image he calls a symbol of hate.

Ian Nix says he saw a group of people walking with the flag Sunday afternoon in Downtown Greenville.  Nix says one of the men yelled “White Power” and that’s when he confronted him.

Other people got involved and a punch was thrown.

Nix says he never touched anyone or tried to take away their flag, but he felt the need to verbally address the man over his speech and the flag.

“We confronted them told them that that’s not tolerated,” Nix said. “You can’t just do this.”

The video has been shared thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter.  No arrests were made and Greenville Police says no one has filed a report on the incident.
