Fort Mill day care employee accused of touching boys

FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) – A Fort Mill day care employee has been arrested after sheriff’s investigators say he inappropriately touched two 8-year-old boys in his care.

Media outlets report 28-year-old Steven Matthew Gentry turned himself in to police Wednesday, and is charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

According to a York County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies were alerted to an investigation by the state Department of Social Services on March 31. DSS had received complaints that an employee at Smart Kids’ Child Development Center had inappropriately touched two boys.

Arrest warrants say two of the incidents occurred last summer, and another two occurred last year.

Smart Kids director Bobby Exizian says Gentry was fired once she became aware of the investigation.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Gentry has an attorney.
