BRUNSWICK, GA (WSAV) — Wednesday evening, Georgia Department of Natural Resources reported that a boat carrying four men had been capsized in the Brunswick River near the Sidney Lanier Bridge to Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center. One man was found by a Georgia DNR crew unresponsive near the shore and confirmed dead by local EMS Wednesday night.
A second man wearing a life-jacket was also rescued Wednesday night and was treated at the scene by EMS.
This morning, the body of the deceased man was located at 7:30 a.m. near the Sidney Lanier Bridge by Georgia DNR search crew.
Coast Guard crews are searching for the remaining missing man aboard the following assets:
- a 29-foot Response Boat- small from Station Brunswick
- a 45-foot Response Boat- medium from Station Brunswick
- an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Savannah.
Members of Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Coast Guard Auxiliary are also assisting in the search.
