CCSD recommends closing Lincoln Middle-High School

Lincoln Middle-High School in McClellanville could be targeted for closure at the end of the school year.

News 2 has confirmed that the Charleston County School District is recommending that Lincoln Middle-High School in McClellanville be closed at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.

According to Emma Harrell, Vice-Chair of the District 1 Constituent School Board, a meeting was held at the school last night during which Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait said she would recommend Lincoln Middle-High School be closed at the end of this school year.

CCSD has been looking for ways to slash costs in the wake of an $18 million budget deficit.  Harrell says the community is upset over the proposed closure, and there will be a bus full of residents heading to Monday’s school board meeting, where we’re told Dr. Postlewait will make her recommendation and the full board will vote on it.
