Victim identified in Park Circle shooting, two women arrested

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – North Charleston Police announced Friday that two women were arrested overnight in connection to the murder of popular Park Circle bartender Eric Brantley.

Victoria Deas, 20, and London Maybank, also 20, are charged with accessory to murder after the fact. They were booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center at 3am Friday morning.  They are scheduled for a bond hearing later in the day.

Officials say Eric Brantley, 43, from Charleston died from a gunshot wound.

According to Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch, a call came in at 7:27 a.m. pertaining to an individual found with a gunshot wound on the 4800 block of Jenkins Avenue in North Charleston on Wednesday morning.

The scene where Brantley was found is close to Park Circle restaurants, North Charleston High School and the high school football field.

A benefit honoring Brantley was held Friday night at The Sparrow in North Charleston. All proceeds are going to Brantley’s family. Close friends will also hold an additional benefit on Sunday night at Local 616 on Meeting Street. That event starts at 4 p.m.

How is the North Charleston Fire Station related to this incident?

North Charleston Fire Department Station 1 is located at 4830 Jenkins Avenue. A shooting was first reported on the 4800 block of Jenkins Avenue. North Charleston Fire Department officials tell News 2 that all firefighters are okay and there was no damage to the station as a result of a possible shooting.

Was the High school affected by the reported shooting?

North Charleston High School was placed on code yellow as a result of the incident to protect students from seeing the crime scene. It was determined that there was no threat to the students and the code yellow was lifted.
