CHARLESTON, S.C. (News Release) — The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston has been awarded a Resident Opportunity Self Sufficiency (ROSS) Grant in the amount of $355,552.00. The Agency received notification from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on April 7, 2016 that of the 303 grant applications we were fortunate to be one of the 117 Authorities selected to receive funding for the 2015 ROSS Grant.
The funding allows the agency to hire two Service Coordinators for three years who will work directly with public housing residents to assess their needs and and connect them with education, job training and placement programs, and/or computer and financial literacy services available in their community to promote self-sufficiency.
Housing provides families the foundation for successful opportunities. Local partners aid our families with educational and economic opportunities allowing the families to obtain future success through successful employment and financial stability in our community.
The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston is excited about this much needed HUD grant, and we look forward to working with our residents in their progress toward economic self-sufficiency.
