Academic Magnet ranked 8th Best High School in the Nation according to U.S. News & World Report

In the most recent rankings of Best High Schools, U.S. News and World Report ranked North Charleston’s Academic Magnet High School the 8th best high school in the United States.

With 2,180 students and 128 teachers, they have a 17 to 1 student to teacher ratio. The report says they have a 100 college readiness rating which means of 100 students tested, 100 students passed.

Three Lowcountry schools were among the top 10 in the state of South Carolina. (Academic Magnet High School (1), Charleston School of the Arts (2), and Wando High (6))

The top 10 high schools in South Carolina, ranked by U.S. News and World Report are:

  1. Academic Magnet High School
  2. Charleston School of the Arts
  3. Dutch Fork High
  4. Wade Hampton High
  5. Hilton Head Island High
  6. Wando High
  7. Bluffton High
  8. Chapin High
  9. Mauldin High
  10. Fort Mill High
