Lane closure scheduled for Savannah Highway

CHARLESTON, S.C. (News Release) — Charleston County Government announces that a lane closure will take place on the Savannah Hwy (U.S. 17) northbound outside lane headed toward Charleston at the intersection of Croghan Landing Drive / Carolina Bay Drive.

The closure’s purpose is to extend the existing right deceleration turn lane to provide more room for vehicles and for pavement marking that will outline a pedestrian crosswalk. The work is expected to start and finish on Sunday April 24, 2016, weather permitting.

  • This work will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Drivers traveling through the project’s construction zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area at all times.
  • The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs, reductions in speed limits and message board information.
  • At least one lane of travel will always remain open.
