ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCBD) — A second person has been arrested in a December church burglary in Orangeburg County.
Authorities say David Hoover, Jr., 42, of Neeses is charged with second-degree burglary in connection with a break-in at Flora Branch Baptist Church in North. “This should explain clearly to those who break in to any facility, especially churches, that it may have been months back, but we’ll be right behind you until you’re brought to justice,” Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.
Bond was set during a hearing on Wednesday, April 13 at $5,000 cash or surety.
On Saturday, Joe Lubkin, 40, of Neeses, was also charged with second-degree burglary. His bond was set at $3,500 cash or surety.
On Wednesday, December 16, the pastor of the Begonia Road Church called saying someone had been inside of the church. He said a large freezer worth several hundred dollars was missing.
Ravenell said that while several more church burglaries occurred around that time, they remain under investigation.
“My investigators have been working these break-ins since they happened,” the sheriff said. “If you had a part in this, just know we’re on our way to get you.”
