Upstate senator introduces ‘bathroom bill’ to state Senate

COLUMBIA, SC (WCBD) – A South Carolina lawmaker introduced a bill today similar to a controversial law just passed in North Carolina.

Sen. Lee Bright brought S. 1203 to the Senate floor on Wednesday, April 6.

The bill would force people to use bathrooms based on their biological sex, not the sex they identify with.

It’s nearly identical to North Carolina’s HB2 which was just signed into law.

It was widely viewed as a blow to anti-discrimination laws and led some corporations to pull their business from the state and a major cities to ban travel there.
