Court hearing postponed for missing children found in abandoned mobile home

The family of the three children who disappeared from their home on Bent Gate Road in Smoaks were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning to find out if their children could be released from the Department of Social Services and return home. However, the court hearing was postponed and a new hearing has not been announced at this time.

LT. Shane Roberts with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office could not provide any details on the postponed hearing.

The three children, ages 2, 3 and 4, were reported missing by family members around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, and were found almost 18 hours later in an abandoned mobile home less than 100 yards from their home.

The children were interviewed by investigators and placed in social services custody while detectives investigate the incident.

Officials with the Colleton County Sheriff’s office said they believed that someone put the children in the mobile home where they were found.

Authorities continue to investigate the children’s disappearance.
