Fatal stabbing in North Charleston; stepson of victim held on $200K bond

Officials with the North Charleston Police Department responded to an assault call on Monday, April 4 at Sumner Place on Sumner Avenue in North Charleston.

The North Charleston Police Department says once on scene, the officers found Wilhemina Lanore Reid, 48, suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to MUSC where she later died.

The suspect, Dontavia Derrome William Reid, 24, of Goose Creek is charged with murder in this case and appeared in bond court on Monday morning. Reid is being held on a $200,000 surety bond for possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime. Reid is the stepson of the victim.

Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch says the call came in at 1:48 a.m.

North Charleston Police are on scene investigating the incident.
