One-year later: Family of Walter Scott to meet at gravesite

Monday, April 4, 2016 marks one year since the fatal shooting of 50-year-old Walter Scott. He was shot and killed by now former North Charleston Police officer, Michael Slager.

Scott’s family plans to hold a moment of silence and reflection at his grave on Monday. According to a press release, Scott’s mother Judy, his brother Anthony and other family members will lay flowers at his gravesite. The family will then address the media following their remembrance. Walter Scott is buried at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414.

Michael Slager is charged with Walter Scott’s murder and was removed from the force after the shooting incident. Slager is currently out on bond, awaiting his trial on October 31, 2016. Solicitor Scarlett Wilson will try both his case and the Charleston church shooting case.
