MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach Police say a teen reported missing in Myrtle Beach left of her own free will and a suspect involved is currently in custody.
Lieutenant Joey Crosby with the Myrtle Beach Police Department says officers completed a review of the evidence in this investigation and determined that 16-year-old Katelyn Mullinax left the Myrtle Beach area on her own free will.
Police say they safely located her on Saturday afternoon.
Police say the evidence has revealed that she was not kidnapped or forced to leave.
On Saturday, Georgia police arrested Mike Roscoe Small, 27, of North Charleston and charged him with kidnapping across state lines and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Savannah officers converged on the suspect’s vehicle and arrested Small. He also faces outstanding warrants in Georgia and Texas.
The teen, who reportedly had no contact with Small before March 28, was safely recovered by Georgia officers.
Police say Katelyn has been released to the custody of her parents.
She was initially reported missing on Monday, March 28 after last being seen in the area of 803 South Ocean Boulevard.
