All lanes open on I-526 EB following hazmat spill near MM20

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch confirmed there was a hazmat spill on I-526 EB near mile marker 20, Virginia Avenue, in North Charleston.

North Charleston Fire Department, South Carolina Highway Patrol and EMS responded to the incident just after 7:10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

The spill caused all lanes of traffic to shut down so that crews could clean up the mess.

North Charleston Fire Department worked hard and fast to get the spill cleaned up. Traffic was back open and flowing around 7:45 a.m. lanes open

Expect delays if you are traveling on I-526 EB on Wednesday morning as traffic picks back up from the spill.
