Man held against his will following drug transaction in Williamsburg County, authorities say

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, SC (WCBD) — Two Williamsburg County residents are in jail following a kidnapping/hostage situation in Williamsburg County.

Kiesha Demetra Mcfadden, 29, of Kingstree is charged with one count of kidnapping and assault & battery 3rd degree. Desmond Tymon Cooper, 27, of Kingstree is charged with one count of kidnapping.

On Monday, March 28 at approximately 2:09 p.m., deputies with the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, Kingstree Police Department, and South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the Salters area of Williamsburg County concerning a possible kidnapping/hostage situation.

We’re told deputies were able to make contact with the two suspects traveling on McFarlin Street in Kingstree. Deputies discovered two males and one female in the vehicle fitting the same description given by the 911 caller.  According to Investigators, the male victim, Lonnie Wilbur Wright III, 50, of Hanahan, was held against his will.  Based on information from the scene, Wright owed McFadden and Cooper $400.00 in cash from a drug transaction. Wright was threatened numerous by McFadden to physically assault him if he did not pay.

McFadden and Cooper will appear before a Williamsburg County Magistrate for an explanation of the charge against them. They will remain at the Williamsburg County Detention until a bond hearing can be scheduled. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
