Suspect in Easter Sunday fatal shooting denied bond

Police have released the suspect’s name in an early morning shooting in North Charleston on Easter Sunday.

Police say Davey Allen Ramsey of North Charleston is charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the shooting in the 6800 block of Ridgebrook Drive.

Ramsey was denied bond on Monday morning.

Police say shortly before 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the 6800 block of Ridgebrook Drive after a report of two people with gunshot wounds. According to officials, Ramsey and the two victims were acquainted and were together just before the shooting. Ramsey allegedly picked up the victims and was driving them to the Ridgebrook residence of one of the victims, when some sort of fight broke out. That’s when police say Ramsey pulled out a gun shooting those victims.

One of the victims, Shalaine Jenkins, 20, of North Charleston, died at the scene from a gunshot wound. Police found her in the road when they arrived. The second victim was taken to MUSC.

Ramsey is expected to face a judge in bond court on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.
