Summerville man dies in early morning accident in Berkeley County

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident in Berkeley County. The single vehicle accident occurred on I-26WB around mile marker 200 at 12:365 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23.

The driver of the 1998 Mercedes was pronounced dead at the scene after they lost control and ran off the road and struck a tree.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury identified the driver as 33-year-old Randy Snell of Summerville. The Coroner says Snell’s sedan ran off the right side of the roadway, down an embankment, and struck several trees. He was pinned in the vehicle and was removed by the fire department. Mr. Snell was wearing a seat-belt at the time of the accident. His death has been ruled accidental and was investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The Coroner says this is the 10th traffic fatality in Berkeley County this year.
