Police: Man robs Charleston store with knife, steals magazine

wcbd-knive suspect2CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department is searching for a man who they say stole a magazine from a local convenience store.

The incident happened on Thursday, March 17, at 3:57 a.m. at the Kangaroo on Clements Ferry Rd.

Investigators say at the store, the man placed a magazine into his backpack.  A clerk asked him if he was going to pay for it and he said “no,” according to an incident report.  He then asked to buy some cigars, and held a pocket knife in his hand.  We’re told at that point, the suspect left the store.  A short time later, he came back inside, attempting to walk around the back of the counter but then left the store.  After the incident, he rode away on a bicycle.

He is described as an African-American man, standing at 5’7, between 160-170 pounds, with a full beard.
