The FBI is now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the James Island Church vandalism’s that happened between July and September of 2015.
Chief Inspector Christopher Brokaw with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says this $5,000 reward is in addition to the $1,000 reward beind offered by the Town of James Island for info leading to arrests in this case.
Detective Mike Sharpe of the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is the contact person for anyone with information regarding these cases, and his office number is 843-740-3104.
The three churches involved are James Island United Congregational, Greater Bethel AME and Mt. Sinai Evangelistic. News 2’s Ashley Yost spoke to members and ministers of Bethel AME church. Right now, they are raising money to fix the damage. They question why someone would shoot a gun at a sanctuary. This has changed their Sunday services. Bullet holes are not the only thing left behind. Fear remains with the broken windows. They hope this new reward will help investigators catch who is responsible.
