Oconee deputies identify shoplifting suspect in Seneca chase

Oconee County Sheriff Deputies chased shoplifting suspect Monday in Seneca.

Deputies chased a shoplifiting suspect in Seneca after Monday afternoon, according to the Oconee Co. Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Christopher Timothy Baldwin.

Officers say a GameStop employee saw a person taking items from the store and followed them out the door.

Deputies say Baldwin dropped the items after they were confronted and left.

They spotted the vehicle Baldwin was driving near Clemson University and tried to stop him on Shiloh Rd.

They chased the vehicle to Highway 183 at the High Falls Express convenience store where the chase ended and they arrested Baldwin.

Deputies found some merchandise from the store as well as some drug paraphernalia.

The chase covered areas in both Seneca and Walhalla.

There were no injuries, but the vehicle is reported stolen from Greenville County.

Baldwin’s charges have not been released yet.
