All residents were accounted for. One fire fighter sustained a hand injury while battling the flames, but no one else was hurt. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. News 2 spoke to one man who celebrated as his cat, Socks, was carried out of the home by fire fighters after it was found under debris.
He said, “It is a miracle because my cat is like my child and they went in there five or six different times and then brought him out. There are no words to describe how I feel.”
This resident’s wife was in the hospital in labor, and although his home is ruined, he told News 2 he is relieved all members of his family are safe.
