Crews on scene of hazmat situation downtown Charleston

UPDATE: CFD Hazmat found a small Freon leak from an air unit. They are working on ventilating the building.


According to the Charleston Fire Department twitter account, on Thursday, March 3, Charleston Fire Department, Charleston PD and Charleston County EMS responded to an ‘unknown hazmat’ situation at 51 Nassau Street in downtown Charleston.

People in the building were complaining of itchy eyes and coughing.

Officials say Nassau Street is closed between Woolfe Street and Columbus Street

Charleston Fire Department says one lane of Meeting Street is closed between Woolfe and Spring St.
