JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCBD) — The Charleston Police Department is investigating following a deadly accident on Johns Island.
Authorities say on Sunday, February 21 at 3 p.m., Daniel Jenkins, 34, was driving was traveling north on Brownswood Road near Island Estates Drive when he ran off the right side of the road.
We’re told he over-corrected and crossed both the northbound and southbound lanes of traffic before leaving the road again. According to a news release, at that point, he struck a ditch causing his car to flip over, striking a tree.
Charleston County Deputy Coroner Brittney W. Martin says Jenkins died as a result of blunt force trauma. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
