Authorities identify North Charleston deadly shooting victim

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) — The North Charleston Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15 at 4663 Nibbs Lane.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 21-year-old African-American man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as Malique Chaney, was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives say Chaney arrived at the home in North Charleston around 11:00 p.m. and attempted to go into the home when gun fire was heard and he was hit. Authorities elaborated that Chaney was acquainted with the people who reside at the home and they were expecting his arrival.

Officials say there is no suspect at this time.
