Suspended Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet has resigned from office. Nisbet sent a signed resignation letter to Governor Nikki Haley on Wednesday, February 3 resigning from his post “effective immediately.” He was under fire following an incident back in August 2015 when he pulled a gun on his neighbor following an incident with a repo man.
Nisbet was arrested and charged with misconduct in office for the incident. Governor Nikki Haley suspended him after an indictment.

Coming off of primaries in New Hampshire, several candidates are now stumping in the Lowcountry. Ohio Gov. John Kasich is holding a town hall meeting at Finn’s Brick Oven in Mount Pleasant. Later in the day, he’s participating in a veterans jobs event in downtown Charleston. Jeb Bush will hold a rally at 3:30 p.m. for the Low Country GOP Women’s Club in Mount Pleasant.

A juicy story out of North Charleston. Police are now investigating after a barbecue restaurant reported more than 260 pounds of meat was stolen from its property. The Barbeque Joint reported that someone had taken three cases of pork butts at around 8:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 9.

Our Storm Team 2 Meteorologists say cold temperatures will blanket the Lowcountry over the next week. With the temperatures dropping, warming shelters are opening up for those who need a warm place to sleep, shower, eat and stay safe. Shelters will be open in Goose Creek, Summerville, Charleston County, North Charleston, and Mount Pleasant.
