On Tuesday, February 9, Northside Elementary School welcomed students back, after being shut down due to mold in the building in January.
Visible mold was found in the school and air quality tests came back poor, prompting officials to close the school temporarily to clean the mold and get the indoor conditions back to normal.
A mold remediation project was recently completed and students are headed back to school.
To make up for lost time, the school day will be extended by 1 hour from February 16 until April 21st.
A press release says teachers will use the allotted time to focus on reading and math by providing engaging, interactive activities to support the curriculum standards.
