CHARLESTON, S.C. — North Charleston will be getting a new train station. It will be built near the existing Amtrak terminal on Gaynor Avenue near Rivers. The stop will be on a main north-south Amtrak route between New York and Miami.
It will cost about fourteen million, six million of which will be paid for by the Federal Transit Administration; the rest will come from Charleston County, the City of North Charleston and the sale of other land owned by the local transit authority.
The station is expected to open in the Fall of 2017.
