CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – A new exhibit at the Charleston Museum focuses on 150 years of southern wedding fashions.
The exhibit “Unveiled: Wedding Fashion and Traditions in the South” opens on Friday at the museum in downtown Charleston. It shows wedding fashions and traditions and how they have evolved from the early 1800s through the mid-20th Century.
The museum is displaying items from its collection ranging from bridal gowns, veils, garters, shoes, and jewelry to men’s fashions including frock coats and tuxedos.
Most of the items in the collection are from the South Carolina Lowcountry. The exhibit runs through July 10.
