Georgia university bans Hoverboards

Augusta, GA (WJBF) —  Students and visitors at Augusta University will need to leave their hoverboards at home.  In a press release sent to local media today Anthony Wagner, Chief Business Officer, announced that hoverboards are banned from all areas of the campuses.

Wagner stated the fire safety concerns for the reason behind the ban saying, ”  Augusta University prohibits the use, possession and storage of hoverboards or similar devices on university-owned property and in all facilities owned or operated by the university due to documented fire and safety concerns.  We will re-evaluate the prohibition of these devices once fire safety issues have been addressed by device manufacturers.”

There have been no reports of hoverboard related fires or issues connected to Augusta University to date.
