You can help CCSD honor educators through its “Honor an Educator” Initiative

The Charleston County School District is honoring teachers and principals in a big way. The district will hold it’s sixth annual Winter Gala on Saturday, February 6 at the Embassy Suites Ballroom in North Charleston to honor excellence in education.

You can help to make sure all educators are recognized in a special way. CCSD has launched its Honor an Educator program.

Anita Huggins, Director of the Office of Teacher Effectiveness says, “The gala is important for many reasons. First of all, it acknowledges the importance of public education and great teachers in our classrooms. Additionally, it raises funds much needed professional development, at the same time recognizing the outstanding efforts of our teachers and principals. Folks can call in and purchase books in honor of great educators. We’ll personalize those books with special messages and send them to special educators before or right after the gala or to schools. We hope that the community will respond because we know that literacy is so important, especially at a young age.”

You can purchase personalized story books for educators and schools in Charleston County as a way of saying “Thanks.”

The story books are $10 each or three for $25. You can also purchase a bundle for $100. Just call 843-937-6343 or text “BOOKS” to 33923.

The Winter Gala is funded by sponsors. This year, the school district will honor more than 80 teachers of the year from each of its schools across the district. In addition, several principals will also receive special recognition. This year’s gala theme is Broadway. We will also give out the News 2 Cool School Star award again this year.
