CHARLESTON, SC – Wednesday night the lucky numbers for the $1.5 billion dollar Powerball jackpot were announced to the world and someone somewhere became a billionaire.
22-year-old Charleston resident, Devin Lee, was buying a ticket downtown and said, “I would probably buy a Ferrari. I’d probably buy a new car every day and then just give it to someone who is less fortunate than me.”
Lee said he doesn’t care his chances of winning are 1 in 292 million.
Lee told News 2, “Chances are that I might win or lose anything in life so why not take a chance.”
So that’s what he did.
Lee bought one ticket for himself and one for his cousin.
“It’s become such a big cultural thing. Everybody’s been talking about it. It goes up and goes up. I just want to be a part of it.”
With the odds against him, Lee, and millions of other Americans, stood in line and waited for their chance to be an overnight billionaire.
Unfortunately, Lee’s numbers weren’t so lucky.
