Police officials say they have arrested an Estill man in connection with a shooting that left two people dead during a robbery in October, 2015.
Authorities say the arrest was made Thursday and that Jonathan Antonio Nieves, 21, of Estill, S.C., was charged with two counts of Murder, a felony which carries a penalty upon conviction of death or a minimum of 30 years to life in prison.
Nieves was also charged with Possession of a weapon during a violent crime, which carries a penalty upon conviction of five years in prison in addition to the punishment for the principle crime.
Nieves was booked at the Jasper County Detention Center.
The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.
The case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
