A woman and 11 children were held hostage for hours early Tuesday at a Georgia motel, NBC station WXIA reported.
The standoff ended after a SWAT team entered the Rite 4 Us Inn and Suites in DeKalb County, and the suspect stabbed himself, according to a tweet from local police.
There were no other injuries and the suspect was transferred to hospital, police said. They gave no more details about the alleged hostage-taker’s wounds.
Authorities became involved in the standoff after responding to a domestic dispute call from the woman at around 2 a.m., WXIA reported. The station did not identify the suspected hostage-taker.
An employee at the motel who answered the phone when contacted by NBC News early Tuesday declined to comment.
