One dead following early morning crash in Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC– Authorities are reporting a single-vehicle collision that left one person dead early morning Saturday.

Officials say on January 2, 2016 at 4:20 a.m., 25-year-old Richard Steven Parish, Jr. of Moncks Corner was traveling east on Cooper Store Road (Road 16) near Queenie Road when his Toyota SUV ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck several trees and overturned several times.

Parish was ejected from the vehicle and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Salisbury. Parish was not wearing a seat belt.

His death was ruled accidental and was investigated by the Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
