LADSON, SC- Charleston police responded to an early morning two car collision in Ladson that left one fatality.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m., on December 13, 2015, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the intersection of Ladson Road and College Park Road to investigate a two car collision that resulted in one fatality.
According to preliminary reports, a driver of a 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 was traveling east on US 78. As he approaching the intersection at College Park Road when he struck the driver of a 2010 Nissan Versa in the rear.
Police say the driver of the Dodge fled from the scene at a high rate of speed and began driving down Ladson Road toward Wayland Drive, where the driver failed to negotiate the turn onto Wayland Drive.
As a result, the Dodge left the roadway and began a rollover event, which resulted in fatal injuries to the driver. It was determined that the driver of the Dodge was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The victim of the first collision was transported to Trident Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Speed appears to be the primary contributing factor for the fatal accident.
Both incidents remain under investigation by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
