WASHINGTON, DC (WAVY) – The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has listed its safest vehicles by doing crash tests.
The agency awarded 61 vehicles as their top safety picks for 2016.
Of the 61 vehicles, 48 got superior marks for having advanced rated front crash prevention systems and/or automatic braking capabilities.
The Chrysler 200 is the only domestic model to qualify for the top safety pick award. And Ford had just one winning model, the F-150 Supercrew.
Several previous winners are missing from this year’s list including many small and midsize cars.
