Baking Memories 4 Kids surprised a local military family with a trip of a lifetime Tuesday morning.
Established in 2012 by cancer survivor Frank Squeo, Baking Memories 4 Kids is a non- profit foundation, that through the proceeds from their holiday cookie sale, fund week long, all-expense paid trips for children with life threatening and terminal illnesses and their families to all the Florida theme parks.
Tuesday, founder Frank Squeo traveled here to to North Charleston to surprise 3 year old Alexander High and his brother with a trip of a lifetime. Both Alex and his older brother Max have been diagnosed with SMA. SMA is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a genetic neuromuscular disease characterized by muscle atrophy and weakness. The disease generally manifests early in life and is the leading genetic cause of death in infants and toddlers. Both boys are confined to wheel chairs and require professional medical assistance daily.
Frank met the North Charleston Fire Department at Fire Station # 5 and together they traveled to the High family home with lights and sirens blazing.
News 2 was there as everyone celebrated the special surprise for this amazing military family.
