South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that a four car accident happened around 10:55 p.m. on Monday, December 7 on Highway 521 near Going Street in Georgetown County.
A 2007 Nissan, a 1997 Ford pickup truck, a 2011 BMW and a GMC pickup truck were all involved in the crash.
Officials say the Nissan was traveling Northbound in the Southbound lanes on 521 as the Ford was traveling Southbound and saw the Nissan. The Ford tried to avoid the Nissan and side-struck the BMW, which was also traveling Southbound. The Nissan then hit the Ford and then hit the GMC head-on.
The driver of the Nissan died of his or her injuries. He or she was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Ford has unknown injuries.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
The name of the victim will be released by the Coroner.
