Coast Guard and others searching for missing person in Texas

Corpus Christi – A Coast Guard helicopter crew, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Port Lavaca Fire Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife are searching for a person who entered the water from the bridge near Port Lavaca, Wednesday night.

The missing person’s name and description is unknown.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders were notified by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department of a report that a person fell from the Lavaca Bay Bridge.

Watchstanders launched an Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to search the area.

Police are searching the waters in the vicinity of the bridge, Coast Guard is searching the shoreline and the Lavaca Bay along with other local agencies.

If anyone knows or has seen the person who fell or has any additional information that may assist the search effort, please contact the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department at 361-553-4646 or the Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi Command Center at 281-464-4854 or on the radio at VHF Marine Channel 16.
