UPDATE: The Charleston County Coroner has identified a victim in an early morning shooting Sunday morning.
Franklin Williams, Jr., 28, of North Charleston was pronounced dead at approximately 2:17 am from a gunshot wound that he sustained in the area of Montague Ave. and Park Circle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
North Charleston Police are investigating.
NORTH CHARLESTON – Authorities are investigation a two vehicle shooting incident that took place near Montague and I-26 early this morning.
Police officers were dispatched to the Montague and I-26 area at around 2 a.m. today after an off duty officer who was working at the Waffle House on Saul White heard gunshots that appeared to be coming from a moving vehicle.
Shortly after, dispatchers received calls of two vehicles traveling toward Park Circle shooting at each other. Officers found two vehicles wrecked on the inner part of Park Circle: a silver Ford Edge and a red Dodge Charger.
The front seat passenger in the Dodge Charger was found dead from gunshot wounds and a rear seat passenger was located in the middle of the road with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The driver of the Dodge Charger was not on scene but arrived about an hour later at MUSC with a wound to the arm.
Officers also recovered illegal drugs and weapons from inside of the Dodge Charger. Detectives are working to identify the occupants of the Ford Edge and the investigation is on going.
