Low flying mosquito control helicopter likely triggered report of helicopter crash


On Thursday, November 12 at approximately 8:51 a.m., a call came in to dispatch about a reported helicopter crash in the water off of the Ravenel Bridge.

While at the scene, News 2 spoke with multiple officials who a low flying mosquito control plane spraying the area, scared someone in the area. Multiple officials are saying there is currently no sign of a crash.

The Charleston Fire Department confirmed that the report of the helicopter crash in the Charleston harbor was unfounded. Any helicopter that was in the area has been accounted for.
