“Cops on Doughnut Shops” to raise money for Special Olympics of SC

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — In a twist to that old story about cops hanging around doughnut shops, law officers in the Lowcountry are literally taking to the roof of a Charleston doughnut shop to raise money for charity.

As part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run campaign, officers climb to the roof of the Krispy Kreme shop on Savannah Highway in Charleston on Thursday to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Officers will be on the roof Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Those who donate $20 will get a coupon for free doughnuts and a T-shirt. The officers hope to raise $10,000 by the time the event ends on Saturday.
